Sherri L. Boschen, Church Organist
Sherri was born and raised in central Virginia. She began private organ lessons at the age of 5.
When she was 11, she starting playing for church services at various denominations in her
home town. While in high school, she studied with Eddie Weaver, a nationally recognized
theater organist, and enjoyed the opportunity to play several historical Wurlitzer theater
organs in Richmond, VA (Byrd Theater and The Mosque). During this period, she accompanied
choirs, musicals, and local variety shows. After beginning a life-long career in the
financial services industry, she continued her part-time musical career as a church organist.
It was during this time that she studied under master organist, Charles Cooke, who was the Organist
and Choirmaster of the Men & Boy’s Choir at All Saints Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia.
She is a member of the American Guild of Organists.
She and her high school sweetheart husband, Chuck, have been married for 37 years. In 2004, he retired
, and they moved to Myrtle Beach. She is employed as a Registered Client Associate at Merrill Lynch
and enjoys her part-time career as church organist here at SUMC. In her spare time she enjoys
kayaking, cycling, making jewelry, gardening and reading.
