The Rev. L. Kim Eanes, Parish Pastor
Although she was born in…..wild, wonderful, West Virginia!....Kim was raised in the Midwest.
As a newborn, Kim’s family moved to the university town of Iowa City, Iowa, where Kim spent the next
five years of her life. The next move brought Kim’s family to the northern suburbs of
Chicago, Illinois. Kim quickly became a White Sox fan and a Green Bay Packers fan before once
again relocating with her family to a town in central Michigan. Kim graduated from
Okemos High School in 1983.
Following her High School graduation, Kim returned to Iowa City to attend the University of Iowa
for a year and a half. With a desire to pursue a religious studies track rather than a pre-law
course of studies, Kim then transferred to Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois.
Kim graduated from Barat College with a B.A. degree – English Major, Religion Minor.
The Fall of that same year, Kim enrolled at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary,
a United Methodist Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
At G-ETS, Kim earned her MDiv degree – with an emphasis on Pastoral Care and Counseling.
Kim has been serving as an ordained Elder in the U.M. church for 18 years. Kim served for
eleven years in the Iowa Conference of the U.M. C., as Pastor of three different parishes,
including one contemporary New Church Start congregation.
Following the death of her husband, Kim transferred to the South Carolina Conference
of the U.M.C., where she has served since 2001 as Pastor of the Aldersgate U.M.C., Greenwood,
and then the Campus Minister at Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia. Kim began serving in the
Associate Pastor position at Surfside in June of 2007.
Kim has two amazing parents who have been married 50 years and who now reside in Aiken, S.C.
Kim also has an older sister who lives with her family of five in Marietta, GA.
Kim loves participating in many outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, fishing, boating,
skiing, kneeboarding and swimming – all of which she enjoys with her three-year-old
miniature schnauzer, Shalom!
