As we celebrate World Communion Sunday, I wanted to share a short quote from my devotional reading.

“One of the sayings in our country is Ubuntu – the essence of being human.  Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can’t exist as a human being in isolation.  It speaks about our interconnectedness. You can’t be human all by yourself…

You are connected and what you do affects the whole world.  When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity.”

From No Future Without Forgiveness by Desmond Tutu (1999)

In these days when so many things divide us – opinions, issues, politics, and so forth, it is good to remember that we are on this earth together to achieve God’s purposes.   I believe that when we focus on our common raison d’ȇtre, (to make disciples) we come closer to the Kingdom of God.

Faithfully,

Pastor Scarlett
