Whenever I come across 1 John 4:7-21, I always reflect the time when this scripture hit home with me. There was a period in my life where I believed following God only meant loving and worshiping God. I thought nothing mattered, not even people. But there was always something inside of me that felt like I was missing something that something was wrong. The reason being was because I was more judgmental, and started hating people who acted contrary to the bible. One day I was sharing this with my friend and in the gentlest way possible he said, “something isn’t right, isn’t there a verse in the bible that says if you love me but hate people you are lying?” And surely enough when I read these words it was as if God was speaking to me directly. If you say you love me but hate people you are lying (1 John 4:20). God is love, and we may love God but do we love people? Maybe there are some of us today who are just done with people. And that our only intentions are to love and worship God alone. But I would like to ask you, invite you, and challenge you to meditate on this scripture and really understand for yourselves what it means to follow God in love.

October has traditionally been recognized as Pastor Appreciation Month. In 1 Thessalonians 5:12, Paul urges Christians to acknowledge those “who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord,….”. We welcome this and every opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Mary and Pastor Tae for all that they do to care for, serve and minister to us. Thank you Pastor Mary and Pastor Tae!
