Advent Day Fourteen – Peace
Focused Scripture Readings: Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted about the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
I learned today that we as older adults look at our phone 58 times a day.
Are we reading the news headlines? Are we waiting for text or a phone call? Are we seeing if someone liked our Facebook post? Or watching a TikTok video? You choose to look at your phone or computer to scroll the internet. You choose to watch the news or a new series on TV. You choose to be among the craziness of this world.
Peace. The definition is “freedom from disturbance “. As we travel through life, we have disturbances out of our control. There is an accident, and we are late for our appointment. Our kids get sick at school, and we have to leave work and care for them. Psalm 46:10. Be Still. And know that I am God. Do we actively sit still and meditate on knowing God.
Sonny reminds me of this passage often. I am always on the go, and he reminds me to sit and be still. After 32 years of marriage, I take his advice more often. To sit and read scripture and then contemplate how they affect my life as a Christian.
During this Advent season, shut off the noise of world. Turn on the peace that passes understand. Jesus’ birth is the reason for the season. May this season remind us of the love and power of our loving God.
