We are one week away from the celebration of our church’s Sixtieth Anniversary!

While a sixtieth anniversary does not seem to carry the historical significance of a fiftieth or seventy-fifth anniversary, it is no less significant. God continues to do good work in us and through us as we grow in our discipleship. That is always something to celebrate.

Next Sunday we will have ONE worship service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. We are fortunate to have Bishop Leonard Fairley with us as our preacher for the day.

Bishop Fairley has served as resident bishop of the South Carolina Annual Conference since September 1, 2024. We were delighted to have him join us as a guest in worship on that day. Prior to coming to South Carolina, he served as resident Bishop of the Kentucky Annual Conference and Red Bird Missionary Conference, and as interim bishop for the North Carolina Annual Conference. Before his election as bishop, he had served as a pastor in the North Carolina Annual Conference. Bishop Fairley is married to Dawn Sparks Fairley. We look forward to having them with us.

During worship we will have the opportunity to unveil the new banner for the sanctuary and recognize special guests. We will hear our choir perform an anthem written by our organist Rev. Jamie Hollida, “Rooted and Grounded in Love.” It promises to be a rich time together.

Following worship, we will gather in the Family Life Center for a meal of fried chicken, potato salad, green beans, slaw, rolls, and dessert. There is no charge for the meal, but we do need your reservation so that we can be adequately prepared. Please call or email the church office (ksims@surfsideumc.org) by noon on Tuesday.

Plan to be here as we rejoice and give thanks for all that has been, and move forward into all that God has prepared us for in the future.

Blessings for the journey+
