No matter how old we are, the month of May tells us that summer is coming! For those who are in school, it means winding down and wrapping us classes and projects and schedules. For those who have children, it means finding things to do during the long stretches of time that summer provides. Those who are still working won’t notice much of a difference except for the traffic. And our retirees will continue to enjoy the benefits of living near the coast.

For us here at SUMC, it is a combination of all these things. Wednesday evening meals and some studies and groups are finishing up until September. Vacation schedules mean that other schedules will need to adjust. Some of you will spend extended time in other places over the next few months and return to us when the weather begins to cool down again.

And yet there are other things that will soon begin. We will have more guests with us on Sunday mornings as many will begin to enjoy our beaches. Our Child Development Center children will graduate on May 29. Our first Summer Night Celebration will be held on Friday, June 19. Our children’s Vacation Bible School will be happening in July. Jason’s House families will begin arriving soon. In July we will welcome Pastor Andrew Wolfe and his family to Surfside UMC. It will be a full summer, indeed.

God is at work in our midst, doing great things in us and through us for the sake of the Kingdom.

Blessings for the journey+
