Making connections. It is the primary way we become and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Connecting with God. Connecting with our neighbors. Connecting with other disciples.

On Sunday, September 21, we will have an opportunity to make connections through a Ministry Fair that will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 am. Tables will be set up in the Fellowship Hall and other places throughout our campus to highlight various opportunities for growth, service, and fellowship. Sunday School classes (including a new opportunity for young adults), missions, ministries with children and youth, technology ministries, men’s and women’s small groups, Lay Servant Ministries and more will have information available about what they do and how you can connect. Group members will be on hand to answer questions. It will be a great chance to explore our life together as the Body of Christ.

On September 28 you will have an opportunity during worship to complete a time and talent survey indicating where you would like to connect. After seeing the variety of opportunities, this will be your chance to say “This looks like a good place for me.” It may be a first step for you in connecting here at Surfside UMC, or it may be a time to go deeper in your life of faith and discipleship.

That afternoon our Messy Church session will focus on discovering and using our spiritual gifts. There will be Spiritual Gift Inventories available for children, youth, and adults to help us understand how we are gifted, and how those gifts can be used in any area of our lives.

The challenge of discipleship is to keep growing more Christlike; to remain curious, not assuming that we know it all or that we have arrived. Wherever you are in your journey, there is a place for you here.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Mary Teasley
