Help4Kids "Let's Fill the Van Lent Mission"

Help4Kids "Let's Fill the Van Lent Mission" is beginning Monday, February 16. Ash Wednesday is a great day to begin bringing in items for our Lenten Mission Drive which will continue through Palm Sunday, March 29. We will be collecting different food each week for Help4Kids and Backpack Buddies. Lists for what to bring this week are in today's bulletin.  A flier for the duration to put on your fridge or counter for shopping ideas are available in the Narthex or the Wave entrances. Our goal is to fill the van each week, delivering on Mondays to Help4Kids.  We are in need of sturdy boxes right now.  If you are making a trip to Costco, Sam's Club or a grocery store, heavy duty banana boxes and fruit boxes with handles are the best ones to grab for us.  Please bring your boxes and food donations to Room 5 anytime you attend Sunday Service, a Men’s or Women’s Group Meeting, Wednesday Night Meals, Committee Meetings, Prayer Groups, etc. or ring the bell during office hours and drop off at your convenience.

We’re on a mission to fill the Help4Kids/Backpack Buddies van every week.
Help4Kids/Backpack Buddies is a 100% volunteer organization that relies solely on donations. They provide food, clothing, shoes, and school supplies to the working poor. Going to school prepared helps children learn and be better able to finish school and go beyond the cycle of poverty into which they were born. Children should have the opportunity to grow, learn and be a child for as long as they can while receiving the basic needs as all other children. Help4Kids sends bags of food, clothing, and other supplies to families as needed.
Backpack Buddies - Backpack Buddies distributes food to approximately 3,000 children every Friday throughout Horry County. Backpack Buddies supplies children with nutritious, child-friendly, self-serve foods designed to put in a backpack and feed a child over the weekend. This program is always in need of food. There is great success with the backpack program in Horry County. Parents have expressed their appreciation, and it is so exciting to see the faces of the children when their weekend food bag is added to their backpacks.
