This week, a team of our Surfside UMC youth and adult volunteers are putting their faith into action at the Newberry Camp of Salkehatchie Summer Service, hosted by Central United Methodist Church in Newberry, SC.

From July 20–25, our group is serving alongside other youth from across the state, coming together to repair homes and restore hope for families in need. Our attendees this year are Joshua Kittel, Sophia Voak, Grace Wisecarver, Jack Mendelson, Lea McCaffery and Pastor Tae. Through long hours of painting, roofing, building ramps, and other vital repairs, they are truly being the hands and feet of Christ in their community.

Salkehatchie is more than just a mission trip — it's a week of spiritual growth, teamwork, compassion, and transformation. Our youth are learning what it means to love their neighbors in tangible ways and to share the love of Jesus through sweat, service, and simple acts of kindness.

Please keep them in your prayers as they continue this important work — for their safety, strength, and for the hearts and lives they are touching along the way. We are proud of their commitment and thankful for the adult leaders who have stepped up to guide and serve alongside them.

Let’s lift them up as they live out the Gospel, one nail and prayer at a time.
