From July 13–18, Surfside UMC was filled with laughter, energy, and discovery as we hosted this year’s Vacation Bible School using Cokesbury’s Road Trip curriculum. Each evening, around 20 children gathered to sing, dance, learn, and grow in faith through hands-on fun.
Throughout the week, children embarked on a journey through the Bible, meeting faith heroes like Abraham and Sarah, the Israelites, Mary and Elizabeth, Zacchaeus, and Paul. Each story helped kids explore the ways God guides, protects, and provides for us throughout life’s journey. Whether we’re on the right path, off course, full of joy, feeling alone, or traveling far from home—“The Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
Each night featured themed games, science experiments, creative crafts, and uplifting music. The children learned and performed songs and dances that tied directly to the day’s lesson, helping them remember key truths in a joyful and active way. The week concluded with a special family night where kids proudly shared their dances and activities with parents—a heartwarming celebration of community and growth.
We are grateful for the more than a dozen volunteers who gave their time and energy, and for our Director of Children’s Ministries, who led the way with joy and dedication. Be sure to check out the photo of our awesome volunteer team from the final night!
