Bishop Fairley challenges S.C. United Methodists to step up while the government shuts down. Our Bishop is asking United Methodist churches throughout South Carolina to make every effort to increase their support to local food pantries.

"Now is not the time to sit idly by and assume someone else is going to fill this enormous gap in the social safety net. Now is not the time to let people go hungry in the richest country in the world" Bishop Leonard Fairley said.

Ways you can help:

  • Keep the food pantry or blessing box stocked.
  • Inquire with community food pantries about their greatest needs.
  • Volunteer to help organize donations at community food pantries.
  • Contact local schools to find out about specific needs for their students.
  • Donate to Harvest Hope Food Bank in the Upstate, the Midlands, or the Pee Dee.
  • Donate to the One SC Fund, a statewide initiative through the Central Carolinas Community Foundation.
